Ajmer Sharif
Ajmer Sharif gathers remembrance around Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, widely known as Gharib Nawaz. The dargah's courtyards and gates hold a continuing life of visitation, prayer and service. To understand the place is to look beyond its familiar dome towards the people, shared meals and commemorative gatherings that give the shrine its purpose.
The shrine and its name
Rajasthan Tourism identifies Ajmer Sharif as the dargah of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and also uses the name Gharib Nawaz. Its city account places the shrine among Ajmer's distinct religious and cultural landmarks. The name refers to a particular place of remembrance, not a generic mosque design.
