Accessibility
Our commitment to making precious metals accessible to every person, regardless of ability
Our Commitment
Vittarq is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We believe that buying gold coins, silver coins, and gift boxes should be a seamless experience for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or assistive technologies.
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.
What We Build For
Screen Reader Support
Full semantic HTML with ARIA labels and landmark regions throughout every page. All images carry descriptive alt text. Live gold and silver price updates are announced to assistive technology so you never miss a rate change.
Keyboard Navigation
Navigate the entire site, from browsing coins to completing checkout, using only your keyboard. Skip-to-content links, visible focus indicators, and a logical tab order on every page.
Text & Contrast
Adjust text size, enable high-contrast mode, and increase letter spacing or line height using the accessibility widget available on every page. All colour combinations meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
Reduced Motion
All animations respect your system preference for reduced motion. You can also disable animations entirely using the accessibility widget. Product images and prices remain fully visible.
14 Indian Languages
Browse and buy in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam, Punjabi, Assamese, Konkani, or Nepali. Proper lang attributes help screen readers pronounce text correctly in each language.
Reading Aids
Focus Reading bolds the first half of each word to support readers with ADHD or dyslexia. The Reading Guide overlays a highlight bar that follows your cursor for easier line tracking across data-heavy pages like price tables.
Your Accessibility Toolkit
Every page on Vittarq includes an accessibility widget (the icon in the bottom-right corner). Here is what each setting does and who it helps.
Text Size
Choose between Default, Large, or Extra Large text. Large bumps body text to 18px; Extra Large to 20px. Useful if you find the default size uncomfortable to read, especially on data-heavy pages like price tables and calculator results.
Helps: People with low vision, older adults, anyone using small screens
High Contrast Mode
Switches the colour palette to stronger foreground-background contrast across all pages. Borders become more defined, muted text becomes bolder, and subtle background tints are replaced with solid fills. All interactive elements remain clearly distinguishable.
Helps: People with low vision or colour sensitivity, users in bright sunlight
Letter Spacing
Increases the space between characters. Three levels: Default, Wide, and Extra Wide. This helps distinguish individual characters, especially in Devanagari and other Indic scripts where closely-spaced conjuncts can look similar.
Helps: People with dyslexia, readers of Indic scripts
Line Height
Adds more vertical space between lines of text. Prevents lines from feeling crowded, which is especially helpful in long-form content like our Masterclass chapters and blog articles. Three levels: Default, Tall, and Extra Tall.
Helps: People with cognitive disabilities, readers of dense content
Word Spacing
Adds space between words. Three levels: Default, Wide, and Extra Wide. Particularly helpful for readers who find words running together, or when reading translated content in languages with longer average word length.
Helps: People with dyslexia, readers who find text crowded
Dyslexia-Friendly Font
Replaces the default typeface with a font designed specifically for readers with dyslexia. Each letter has a unique shape that prevents mirror-confusion between similar characters like b/d and p/q.
Helps: People with dyslexia
Highlight Links
Adds a visible underline and colour indicator to every link on the page. This makes it easy to tell which text is clickable without relying on colour alone. This is important for colour-blind users and anyone navigating unfamiliar pages.
Helps: People with colour vision deficiency, keyboard navigators
Pause Animations
Stops all page animations, transitions, and auto-scrolling carousels. Gold and silver prices, product images, and all other content remain fully visible and functional. Only the motion stops.
Helps: People with vestibular disorders, motion sensitivity, ADHD
Reading Guide
Shows a horizontal highlight bar that follows your mouse cursor as you move down the page. Helps your eyes track the current line when reading long paragraphs or comparing numbers across columns in calculator results.
Helps: People with ADHD, anyone reading data tables
Focus Reading (Bionic Reading)
Bolds the first half of each word on the page. Your brain recognises the word from the bold portion and fills in the rest, making reading faster and reducing fatigue. Especially effective for long articles like our investment guides.
Helps: People with ADHD, speed readers, anyone experiencing reading fatigue
Cursor Size
Enlarges the mouse cursor to make it easier to locate on screen. Three levels: Default, Large, and Extra Large. Helps if you frequently lose track of the cursor, especially on larger monitors.
Helps: People with motor impairments, older adults, large-screen users
Monochrome Mode
Removes all colour from the page and displays content in greyscale. This can reduce visual noise and help focus on content rather than decoration. Product images and gold/silver price badges remain legible.
Helps: People with sensory overload, anyone who finds colour distracting
Colour Saturation
Adjusts the intensity of colours across the page. Choose Low, Default, or High. Low saturation reduces vibrancy for a calmer look; High saturation makes colours more vivid for those who need stronger visual signals.
Helps: People with low vision or colour sensitivity
Hide Images
Removes decorative images from the page, leaving only essential content visible. Alt text descriptions remain accessible to screen readers. Reduces visual clutter and speeds up page load on slow connections.
Helps: People with cognitive overload, low-bandwidth connections
Dictionary Tooltips
Adds explanatory tooltips to domain-specific terms like 'HUID', 'making charges', 'hallmark', 'karat', and 'troy ounce'. Hover over or tap highlighted terms to see a plain-language definition. No background knowledge required.
Helps: First-time gold/silver buyers, non-native English speakers
One-Click Profiles
Four preset profiles activate the best combination of settings for common needs: Low Vision (large text + high contrast + large cursor), Dyslexia (dyslexia font + wider spacing + highlight links), ADHD (focus reading + reading guide + pause animations), and Cognitive (large text + tall line height + wider word spacing). You can customise any profile further after applying it.
How We Test
We test every page with axe-core automated scans, manual keyboard walkthroughs, and VoiceOver / NVDA screen readers. Our multilingual pages are tested across languages to ensure that ARIA labels, form instructions, and error messages are translated, not just the marketing copy.
